Constantinos Leftheriotis
Edinburgh CBT Counsellor and Psychotherapist
AN ASSOCIATE of THE LIFE ACADEMY
About Me
Beginning therapy takes courage, and I want to make that first step as straightforward as possible. My name is Constantinos, and I'm a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist — which means I've met the highest professional standards set by the UK's leading counselling body, giving you the assurance that you're in safe, qualified hands.
My role is to support you in moving towards a healthier and more fulfilling life — at a pace that feels right for you, in a space that feels safe. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), drawing on other therapeutic approaches where helpful, so that each session is shaped around what works best for you rather than a fixed formula. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or low self-esteem, we'll work together to understand what's driving it — and find practical, lasting ways through it.
I offer flexible sessions, including evenings and weekends, online or in person, to make therapy easier to fit around your life.
You don't have to have everything figured out before getting in touch. A brief message — even just a question — is enough to get things moving.
I offer sessions in both English and Greek — whichever feels most natural to you.
Approach
I believe therapy works best when it feels genuine and collaborative — not something done to you, but something we work through together.
My priority is to create a space where you feel heard and understood, including the thoughts and feelings that are hardest to put into words. Our sessions are guided primarily by CBT, while integrating other evidence-based approaches where they're most helpful. This means the therapy adapts to you, rather than the other way around.
The goal is always practical, meaningful change — not just symptom relief, but a clearer sense of yourself and what you want your life to look like.
Education
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from the University of East London, which gives me a strong theoretical and research grounding that underpins my clinical work. Alongside this, I completed a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Groupwork, and a Certificate in Counselling Skills, both at the Centre of Therapy & Counselling Studies.
My couples therapy training — a COSRT Level 5 Certificate in Couple Relationship Therapy from The Grove — focused on attachment, communication difficulties, and the relationship dynamics that so often sit beneath surface-level conflict.
I'm also a qualified clinical supervisor, having completed an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision with the Counselling Tutor, alongside a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling — reflecting my commitment to ensuring that therapy delivered remotely is held to the same standard as in-person work.
I practise as a trauma-informed therapist, with specialist training that supports sensitive and ethical work with the impact of past experiences. I'm committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in further training to ensure my practice stays current with research, ethical standards, and best practice.
Experience
Over five years of clinical practice, I have worked with more than 200 clients and accumulated over 3,000 clinical hours — supporting adults from a wide range of backgrounds and life circumstances, both as individuals and as couples, through short and longer-term therapeutic processes.
Whatever you're facing, therapy gives you a dedicated space to make sense of it — and someone alongside you who genuinely wants to help.
Expertise
My work focuses on adult individuals and couples. I have particular experience supporting people through anxiety, depression, and panic attacks — whether these feel manageable but persistent, or overwhelming and hard to explain.
I also work with relationship and family challenges, including communication difficulties, conflict, and the patterns that keep couples feeling stuck or disconnected.
Many clients come to me around personal growth and self-perception — struggling with low self-esteem, perfectionism, phobias, or stress that has built up over time, including work-related pressures.
Therapy is always tailored to your specific circumstances, combining practical CBT-based strategies with reflective exploration to support meaningful progress over time.
